Soft fudgy cookie bars, bursting with chocolate in every bite!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup powdered white sugar
3-4 fresh strawberries (optional)
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup dark chocolate chunks
1/4 cup milk chocolate chunks
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 170° degrees and line a 9×9″ square baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and both the sugars (brown and white) until light and fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and beat for another minute until well combined.
- In a seperate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
- Using a spatula, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three batches mixing well after addition.
- Lastly, fold in the dark chocolate chunks and half of the milk chocolate chunks. Mix well. The dough will be slightly dense.
- Press the dough flat into a baking pan. Decorate with strawberries cut into thin slices placed skin side down and dot with the remaining milk chocolate before baking.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and slightly fudgy in the centre. Let it cool completely before cutting it into pieces. Enjoy!
